Versus Ashley Down FC (Bristol Civil Service Ground) 10:30-12:00
24 Bantam players (including 2 Bantam girls, for the first time) are available and
2 teams are formed, as requested by ADFC: 1 team by 13 players and 1 by 11 players.
All games, tough and interesting anyway, lost by the 2 Bantams teams. The only (consolation!)
goal for the Bantams is scored by Nate Cliff. Upon a bad foul committed by a
very tall player of them (actually the tallest player around!), a slight
disagreement erupts between the Ref. and our mighty coach Matt.
However, at the end of the game, everything is sorted out in a very
civilized (i.e. British) manner.

Training session (Saville Road) 10:30-12:00 (11:20-12:00 partitella)
Team A (Sidney R, James L, Oliver B, Alexandros P, Samuel C, Alex E, Riley S, William B and Marco B with goalkeeping a rotazione) vs Team B (Andrea B gk fisso, James M 1 goal, Nana A, Yusuf R 1 goal, Nata C, Henry P, William S, OLiver J and Rufus B). La partitella si conclude sul punteggio di 2-0 per il team B (Moore, Rizwan).
28/10/17 Fun Day - Kickabout "Dads and kids" (Saville Road) 10:30-12:00 (10:45-11:50 partitella)
04/11/17 Training session (Saville Road) 10:30-12:00 (11:30-12:00 partitella)
Sixteen Year 4 Bantams players showed up for an intense session of training under a mostly sunny sky with the exception of the final 10 minutes of rain. Players were divided into 3 groups (of 5, 5 and 6 players) and challenged by their coaches with a series of exercises including some interesting ones aimed at improving their passing skills. That is never bad. Last 30 minutes were spent playing an entertaining 8-a-side game in which every few minutes the player positions over the pitch were swapped. Team 1: Oliver Jones, Harry Pelly, Samuel Coulter, Yusuf Rizwan, Lucas Jarrett, Cameron Brown, Harvey Buller and Luca Revill vs Team 2: Alexandros Pantazis, Redford Hall, Marco Brancaccio, James Legg, James Moore, Sidney Rushton, Oliver Belling and Rufus Brice. A very tight game which ended 1-0 for Team 2 with a last gasp goal triggered by a Sidney attack from the right side which led to an assist for an easy, and undisturbed, tap in by James Moore who timely occupied the center forward position.

1-3
2-3 Alexandros Pantazis
2-4
A very good players turnout (23 Bantams out
of 24) in a very typical English rainy weather. Bantams could then form 3
teams and each team could be engaged against only 1 team of Colts since
their turnout was much lower (about 10 players available for the Reds). All
in all a very good day of football since while each Bantams official team
were playing the Colts the other two were engaged in animated friendlies in
the neighbouring pitch. It was very good to see Ivo back after his ankle
incident. Well played by everyone but honestly the Colts were the better
team for most of the games (their n.10 and their keeper being the best
players of the day). Actually, only our Team B could prevail (1-0) with a
nice tap-in by James Legg assisted by Nate. Update on our official games

18/11/17 Training session (Saville Road) 10:30-12:00 (11:00-12:00 multiple 5-a-side games)
Another good players turnout (20 out of 24) for a very interesting session of training in a dry but chilly Bristol morning at the muddy Downs. Players divided into 4 groups of 5 and engaged in shooting (and blocking as well) exercises. In fact, a good deal of new keeping gloves have beeen distributed around the players in order to trigger their saving skills. After this important section of training, all the groups were involved in a session of very entertaining 5-a-side games in which particular attention to the passing game was taken with the help of Nigel, Marcus, Tom and Andy as well.
25/11/17 Versus Rockleaze Rangers (Coombe Dingle Sports Complex) 09:00-10:30
Away to Rockleaze (report by Tom Hore)
On a very cold morning at Coombe Dingle, the Bantams had to contend with a number of things outside their normal Saturday experience; an earlier than normal kick off time of 9.30am; an Astro turf pitch; hockey sized goals (none of the players could touch the bar); and unfortunately Rockleaze only had 11 players so to create two six/ seven a side teams the Bantams (who had 18 players available) had to loan them some of our players. Rockleaze set their teams out well, and despite the full commitment and hard work of our two teams, came out on top in each of the four matches, although there was at least one Bantam on the winning team in each match.

Versus Westbury Park Foxes (Stoke Road at the Downs) 10:30-12:00
Away (ehm…Stoke Road at the Downs) to Westbury Park Foxes – Dry
morning with temperatures raising from the previous freezing days, muddy
pitches.
The day after England have picked the easiest group (Belgium, Tunisia and
Panama) at the forthcoming World Cup in Russia, the Brunel Bantams have produced
their most impressive display of the season so far. After an exhausting walking
trip from Saville to Stoke Road (at least 2 minutes), the Bantams caravan of
players, coaches, parents, fans and dogs reached the Westbury Park Foxes site.
At the end, six wins, two draws and only one game lost (however a tight one,
1-2). Not a bad outcome! Also the Westbury Park Foxes played nicely and,
importantly, very correctly. Our Stoke Road neighbours represent an impressive
organization and were able to field as many players as the Bantams and therefore
9 games (!) were played. In fact, the 22 Bantams players were sorted into 3
teams of 8, 7 and 7 players respectively. Each and every game was really well
played by all Bantams’ teams, whose activities were orchestrated with their
usual competence and passion by coaches Matt (team A), Tom (team B) and Dave
(team C) under the supervision of our master director of football, Marcus “Von
Karajan” Johnson. Good debut for Lucas Searle, the 25th Bantams
player for this season (see below the updated Roster), and first goals wearing
the already legendary orange shirt for Samuel and Nana. An impressive tally
today for our scorers: 20 goals for and only 7 against (of those 1 was an
owngoal contributed by Nate) making a +13 goal difference for the day. 10 goals
were scored by the duo Nate-Yusuf, with the former scoring an impressive
“pentagol” (wow!) in team C’s first game (whose final score was 5-0). A record
that might last a bit.

09/12/17 Last training session of 2017 (Saville Road) - 10:30-12:00
report by Tom Hore
The last training session of 2017 was well
attended on a chilly morning on the Downs, fears of a frozen pitch dissipated
as the tempura-like surface gave way with a light crunch to the soft
stud-inviting turf. The indefatigability of the Bantams squads of all ages was
on public display as we were the only teams inhabiting the Downs apart from our
neighbours, the Foxes women's team. Despite being the demob session, the boys
put their hearts into it, practicing attacking/ defending , and shooting before
an 7/8 a side match. In homage to Thursdays decision to make Coventry UK's city
of culture for 2021, one of the teams turned out in Sky Blue bibs. However the
magic of the city's successful bid failed to rub off as the seven Sky Blues
trailed 2-0 at halftime to the eight strong Oranges. The second half saw a more
even game with the Sky Blues gaining a player and pulling a goal back after
having gone further behind. Some of the players were troubled by a whistle happy
referee who justly stopped the game several times to remind the players of their
positions; this had a limited short term effect. Despite the scoreline, the game
ended on a high for both teams as Redford produced a tin of chocolates to
celebrate the last full session of the year.

A game of two halves of approximately 30 minutes each. Very sunny morning. New players: Oliver (we got another one!) and Adam. Really well played by everyone (final score 2-2) with some of the Dads later heading for Hospital care in one of the Bristol Hospitals. 06/01/18 First training session of 2018 (Saville Road) - 10:30-11:45
In a very chilly and windy morning, Bantams restarted their season after the end of the year break. It was a pretty cold day and even our Marcus “Von Karajan” Johnson decided to dress up a bit wearing black tracksuit bottoms! All considered, a very good turnout with 20 players (out of 27 - see the updated roster below) including the new Lucas Searle, Adam Stevenson and Oliver Chesham. The players were divided then into 4 teams of 5 players for a round of exercises aiming at increasing their ball controlling skills followed by a series of animated and interesting 5-a-side games.

13/01/18 Versus Shine (at the Brentry Primary Schools grounds in Brentry Road) 10:30-12:00
Away to Shine – Dry chilly morning, muddy
pitches.
27 Bantams players (out of the 28 available in the current Roster - see below)
did show up at Brentry Primary School for the clash against Shine FC.
This is a record turnout and if something like this happened at the political
elections in UK, Italy or US (especially) or any other country possibly, we
could perhaps all live in a more democratic world. Three teams of 9 players each
were formed and the games were played 8 v 8 or also 9 v 9 instead of the usual 7
v 7. One of the pitch, the one in which our team A played all their games had a
particularly bizarre shape (way too narrow!). The big clash ended up in a
perfectly symmetrical tie: 3W, 3D and 3L. Well done Bantams! However, best
player of the day is n.10 of Shine team A; she was such a good player that she
could easily outplay both technically and tactically all her male opponents
(Women do everything better!). Among the highlights of the day there are some
outstanding saves by Nana and a win 2-1 (with a winner by our top scorer Nate -
see the current situation below) coming back from 0-1 after the first half. A
very good brace by Samuel and a hat-trick by Alex. First game, and first goal in
a tight 4-3 win, for our new player William Woodman. History was made with the
very first final 0-0 (!) in the game between our Team C (green bibs) and Shine
team B.

20/01/18 Versus Shire Colts (at the Sea Mills Park grounds in Shirehampton Road) 10:30-12:00
Away to Shire Colts – Rain, rain and rain and muddy pitches.
The very same day The Guardian published in its weekend magazine the first
column by Elena Ferrante (ndr about her first love), a lot
of "first things" happened at the Sea Mills Park grounds, home of the Shire Colts. First game for our last transferred player, Oscar Smith
(our vulcanic and immensely rich Marcus "Von Karajan" Johnson is very active over this January player transfer window). First game played
(and really well played!) by Robyn Strange joining our Team C from the Bantams Girls Academy. First time one goal against the Bantams was
disallowed by the VAR (ehm...people screaming at the Ref). First penalty awarded (and scored unfortunately) against the Bantams. First time
one of our player (i.e. Alex) is loaned to our "enemies" and scored a hat-trick against us (!). And first time the ink of my pen failed me (a big
thank goes to Robyn's dad, Simon, for lending me a functioning pen!). So it was a day of many first times. Bantams arrived in Shirehampton Road
with a contingent of 26 players out of their current (growing) Roster of 30 players. However, Shire Colts could only field 2 teams (Red and Black)
of 6 players each and therefore one each of our three teams (A led by Dave, B led by Nigel and C led by Mighty Matt) had to make some
training whilst the other two were engaged in the games against the Colts. Although 5 games out of 6 were lost, Bantams played very well under
a fastidious rain and succumbed only by a 1-2 goals deficit in most of the games. In the last game, Bantams gained a great comeback (from 1-0 down)
win thanks to a very
long shot by Nate and a really fantastic goal scored by Oscar Mellor.

27/01/18 Training session (Saville Road) - 10:30-12:00
Very strong and cold winds do not stop the Bantams, nor many of their corageous parents attending, who dedicate themselved into a very lively
training session.
19 players showed up - all considered is a good turnout - including the new
trialist Samuel. After the necessary warm-up and
some passing exercises, players were divided into 3 groups and challenged in a
very interesting session of multiple repeated shoots that was also
aimed at increasing their goalkeeping skills. The whole session was conclused
with a lively 9 vs 9 (because William Blake had to leave with a
sore throat - get well soon!) in which the Oranges prevailed over the Blue bibs
with a final result of 3-0 (Oscar and Alexandros amongst the scorers).
03/02/18 Versus Bishop Road Buccaneers (Saville Road) 10:30-12:00
Under a dark sky but with only few rain. Pitches in
acceptable conditions. This fixture should have been played in Bishop Road
but the Buccaneers had
troubles with their own pitches.
A very effective performance by the Bantams and the Buccanneers led to a
substantial equilibrium between the two organizations: 2W 3D 1L the final
outcome for
Bantams. First goal scored by Oscar Smith and first game played by Samuel
Chapmans and Elsa Woodbridge. The Bantams continue with their masochistic
attitude because Oliver Belling is our next loaned player to score a goal
against us. Well done anyway Oliver, he
scored one also for us! So he is
our first player to achieve this goal.

24/02/18 Training session (Saville Road) - 10:30-12:00
First session after another half-term (this one a bit mad just a few weeks away from Xmas/New Year...however). The coldest sunny morning
of the season so
far, some of the attending parents were sent to hospital afterwards with
semi-paralyzed limbs. A very fruitful session animated
by the presence of a generous sparring partner team, the Cotham Tigers. All
considered a good turnout and the Bantams were able to form 3 full teams
and engage the Tigers in three consecutive games whilst the other two Bantams
teams were also battling in animated training matches. More new players!
Tristan Midgley and Samuel Cunningham joined the session, the last two players bought by our astonishingly rich and powerful Director of Football!
He has promised Ferrari, Lamborghini or McLaren for everyone, will he keep to his promise?

03/03/18 Versus Shine (Saville Road) 10:30-12:00
Cancelled due to very bad weather (snow).
10/03/18 Versus Shine (Saville Road) 10:30-12:00
Light constant rain. Muddy pitches although they were better than expected considering that it was raining cats
and dogs the day before.
A good clash
against an always strong Shine organization. The presence of loads of Shine
players allowed to form three Bantams teams
(9 games were played),
coached by Andy (A), Tom (C) and Dave (B) whilst our mighty Matt acted as a Referee. Team A:
Marco, Sidney, Robyn (best player),
Alexandros (scored an eurogol from midfield), Alex, James Legg, Henry (had to
quit after 2 games for an ankle injury), Nate and Cameron.
First goals (a brace) for Lucas Searle with the Bantams.

17/03/18 Versus Golden Hill Sonics (Saville Road) 10:30-12:00 - games abandoned due to extreme weather conditions (snow)
I received some information from Nigel, Simon and Nick but I am afraid it was insufficient to draw a report
and therefore no official scores and scorers were annotated.
Marcus's email:
"Good afternoon All,
Just a quick email following up from this morning.
Well done to all of our players for braving through some
horrendous weather this morning on the Downs in their matches against Golden
Hill Sonics. When I was setting up and close to blizzard conditions were
occurring, I was thinking twice about cancelling the entire fixture. With
hindsight maybe I should have done, but I think a lot of you would have been
dressed and ready and in cars by then. Sincere apologies if anyone feels it was
the wrong decision to play - it probably was wrong. It was all a bit odd when at
the end of Match 1 half the Sonics decided they didn't want to play! They don't
make them tough like the Bantams these days ...
I am desperately hoping we head into some nicer weather as Easter arrives. The
Easter school hols weekends are officially a break in the league fixtures so
time off. I will let everyone know if we decide to run either the first or the
last Saturday as a players and parents 'fun session'.
Really hope you have all warmed up and thank you a million
times over again to the players for sticking through it today. I saw at least
one victory over the Sonics which is amazing.
Best wishes,
Marcus"

1-0 (Eaves)

Moore coadiuvated by Andy Brown: Cameron Brown, Sidney Rushton, Samuel Chapman,

Final outcome: 2W, 5D, 2L
21/04/18 Training session (Saville Road) - 10:30-12:00
Mild weather conditions, sunny and cloudy.
A good turnout for the last training session of the season. The presence of more than 20 players allows Marcus to create easdily 4 Bantams teams
and orchestrate an interesting sort of internal tournament. Very animated games in which more emphasis was put over the offensive game rather than the defensive one. Multiple goals of Alexandros and Oscar Smith amongst the others.
